On Saturday 8 March 2025, On Air Fitness Saint-Pierre will be hosting the Reunion qualifier for the 2025 World Street Workout Championships, which will be held from 24 to 27 April in Sofia, Bulgaria. This event, organised under the aegis of the World Street Workout & Calisthenics Federation (WSWCF) and SPF Workout Bulgaria, has received the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Sofia municipality.
A competition with high standards for world qualification
This is the first time that athletes from Réunion will be taking part in the World Endurance Strength Championships. Following the pre-qualification phase held in November in Petite-île, which was won on the wire by Dionysian Corentin JARDINOT with 50 validated repetitions, the athletes have had a hundred days to fine-tune their preparation and will be competing in three titanic events during this regional final:
- Max reps pull-ups with a 32 kg weight
- Max reps dips with a weight of 48 kg
- Max reps muscle-up bodyweight
Each validated repetition, whatever the movement, earns 1 point, and the best total wins the qualification.
The best male and female athlete at the end of this final will earn a place at the 2025 World Championships. This competition represents a unique opportunity for Réunion's athletes to measure themselves against the best international competitors.
This event is part of a drive to develop street workout on La Réunion instigated by the Bek la barre association, which promotes sporting performance, inclusion and education through sport, particularly among young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
