Jardinot , Seychelles and Mérion take off for the World Championships
Reunionese street workout continues to shine on the international stage! Two local athletes, Kevin Seychelles (Rivière Saint-Louis) and Corentin Jardinot (La Montagne), have qualified to represent Réunion at the 2025 World Street Workout Championships. The prestigious event will be held from 24 to 27 April at the Asics Arena in Sofia, Bulgaria, under the aegis of the World Street Workout & Calisthenics Federation (WSWCF).
A first for La Réunion in the "Power and Strength" category
This edition marks a major turning point: for the first time, Pei bekeepers will be competing in the 'Power and Strength' category. This demanding format puts brute strength and muscular endurance to the test in three formidable challenges:

Parallel bar dips maximum number of repetitions with an additional weight of +48 kg in relation to body weight.

Pull-ups maximum number of repetitions with +32 kg.

Muscle-ups Maximum number of repetitions at bodyweight.
Each repetition will earn 1 pointwhatever the movement. A discipline where power, technique and mental preparation will be decisive.
In the freestyle category, another athlete from Réunion, Mérionwill attempt to surpass his brilliant third place in 2023. With his daring style and mastery of aerial tricks, he is aiming for an even more impressive performance this year.
An expanding dynamic
This qualification is the culmination of a demanding process, which began in the regional selections organised November in Petite-Île and March in Saint-Pierre. It also illustrates the growth of street workout on Réunion, driven by the Bek la barre association. As well as promoting competition and performance, the structure is actively committed to inclusion and education through sportparticularly among young people in priority neighbourhoods.
